About this book
The Whole Shelf of Scripture in One Volume: Tanakh, Second Temple Witnesses, Brit Chadashah and Later Witnesses Short description A Septuagint-based Bible of 116 books, so the Old Testament you read is the one the Shlichim quoted. Hebrew names restored; 3,971 notes. Contents and details The writers of the Brit Chadashah quoted the Scriptures in the form they knew, the Greek Septuagint, translated from an older Hebrew text. Most English Bibles take their Old Testament from the later Masoretic Text and their New Testament from the Greek. The result is a Bible in which the New Testament quotes an Old Testament the reader does not have. The Holy Ivri Heritage Bible restores the shelf the first believers read. Its Old Testament is rendered from the Septuagint, with Masoretic readings supplied in visible brackets where the Greek lacks them, so nothing is silently added or removed. When Mattityahu quotes Yeshayahu, the Yeshayahu in your hand says what Mattityahu quoted. 116 books in four Seasons: * The Tanakh — the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings. * The Second Temple Witnesses — among them Sefer Chanokh (Enoch), Sefer HaYovelim (Jubilees), the Books of Adam and Chawah, Ben Sirach, the Book of Gad the Seer, the Makabim and the Meqabyan, and the scrolls of the sons of Tzadok. * The Brit Chadashah — the Besorot, Ma’aseh HaShelichim, the letters and Chazon Yochanan, with Ma’aseh Pilatus (the Gospel of Nicodemus). * The Later Witnesses — including Igeret Barnaba and the Odes of Shelomoh. Every book of the 1611 King James Bible is here, together with the books the Ethiopian assembly kept and the Western Bible left out. What sets it apart: * The Name restored as YAHUAH, and Hebrew names throughout (Yeshua HaMashiach, Moshe, Yisra’el), each glossed in English where it first matters. * 3,971 translator’s notes, numbered in one run from Bereshit to the last book, setting the Greek and Hebrew readings side by side. * The One-Year Reading Cycle: the whole Bible in a year of 364 days, two readings a day. * The House Calendar: the 364-day year of the Mo’edim, month by month, with the Torah portion for every Shabbat. * Family record pages for births, marriages and deaths. For readers who want to read the Scriptures as the Shlichim read them, in the light of the Hebrew heritage of the faith.
